SONIA MICHELLE YETMING
ACTRESS | DIRECTOR | PRODUCER | WRITER | CREW
Raised in the arts and shaped by both creative and academic study, Sonia’s work explores identity, ambition, love, and the quiet moments that define a life.
Born and based in Tampa, Florida, Sonia grew up immersed in performance — her mother an opera singer, her childhood steeped in theater, music, and movement. She began acting on stage at the age of ten, developing a deep respect for performance, discipline, and emotional truth. Alongside the arts, she cultivated a love for horseback riding, a practice that would later influence her appreciation for patience, precision, and embodied storytelling.
Originally pursuing theater at the collegiate level, Sonia’s academic path evolved as she discovered a parallel passion for criminology, criminal psychology, and social justice. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of Tampa, with a minor in Film & Media Arts — a combination that continues to inform the psychological depth and ethical questions present in her work.
Though her academic focus shifted, Sonia never left the arts. Instead, her creative voice found a new home in film.
Film & Storytelling Practice
Sonia began her journey in film in 2021 as an actor, appearing in a wide range of student and independent productions. As her understanding of the medium deepened, she expanded into crew work and eventually producing — learning the full scope of filmmaking from set logistics to post-production and distribution.
In 2025 alone, Sonia produced three narrative projects, further solidifying her role behind the camera. She is currently developing both a feature film and a television series, continuing to expand her work into longer-form storytelling.
In December 2026, Sonia will make her directorial debut with 8 Count, a short film slated for the festival circuit. The project represents a culmination of her background in performance, writing, and production — and marks a new chapter in her authored work as a director.
Her storytelling is marked by restraint, emotional precision, and an interest in memory and internal conflict. Sonia gravitates toward stories that linger rather than resolve cleanly, allowing space for ambiguity, reflection, and emotional honesty.
From Labyrinth to Red Ink
Before founding Red Ink, Sonia launched Labyrinth Media, a brand management and content creation company focused on helping individuals and small businesses articulate their story through visual media. Drawing from her experience in entertainment and storytelling, she worked hands-on in photography, videography, website building, SEO, analytics, and content strategy — learning the logistics of branding and digital presence through direct practice.
As Sonia’s film work expanded, these two worlds naturally merged. Labyrinth Media evolved into Red Ink — a creative entity where narrative filmmaking and brand storytelling coexist, informed by the same values: intention, clarity, and emotional truth.
Today, Sonia oversees both the filmography and brand management work at Red Ink, bridging authored storytelling with strategic visual design.
Philosophy
Sonia believes that stories — whether cinematic or commercial — carry responsibility. Her work is guided by care for the people behind the stories, respect for process, and a commitment to authenticity over spectacle.
She approaches each project with the same question: What is this really about, and how do we tell it honestly?
